about

ChromatoForce Records was established in 2020 by Ryan Glass and Ben Baier- two Portland based musicians. In the beginning, ChromatoForce functioned as a digital distribution center for their various music projects, but is now evolving into a space for emerging home-recording artists to get their music heard, and to serve as a hub for local musicians to collaborate with one another. As a label partner with DistroKid, ChromatoForce helps musicians gain a presence as verified artists on major streaming and social platforms, and plans to one day expand into vinyl distribution.

RYAN GLASS

Ryan Glass is a multi-instrumentalist and audio engineer who has played in various indie rock and electro-pop outfits for over 25 years. His passion for music began at the age of five, when he discovered that he could hear a simple melody and then play it back on his grandmother’s piano. As a high school student in the mid-1990s, Ryan gravitated toward the guitar, finding inspiration from the alternative and indie bands of the day. He then became the guitarist and vocalist for his first band, a trio called Trigger Skwish (he knows it’s a dumb name!). The band recorded an album at Falcon Studios with engineer, Sean Norton, and during the process Ryan discovered his love for production. Soon after he studied audio engineering at the Art Institute of Seattle.

Since then, Ryan has collaborated with many artists in the Pacific NW including James Mendenhall with The Prom and Death Cab for Cutie, The Very Foundation, Spare Part Surgery with Dusty Grimm (Ninja, Tinmantle) and Shaun Lyvers (Abronia), Psychic Genius and Amorphestra with Ben Baier (Frankenixon, We Wrote the Book on Connectors, H is for Hellgate), The Portland All-Stars (members of The Decemberists, Floater, Sneak’n Out), and Hunter Paye (Arrows in Orbit).

Additionally, Ryan is a videographer who has worked with Michael Rizzo (Epic Soul) to create documentaries for local businesses such as Nature Bake and Dave’s Killer Bread, as well as advertisements for Adidas and promotional ads for the release of the 2012 video game, Kingdoms of Amalur. Ryan's previous contributions to the viral Youtube channel, FilthyFrackers, paid homage to chiptune music of retro game consoles, and received the attention of Spin, Rolling Stone, MTV, Loudwire, and NPR.

Ben Baier

(Well… we will write something for Ben soon. The most important thing to know right now is that he is a avocado enthusiast, and enjoys memorizing his PINs and passwords.)

  • Artists who want to have their music distributed to major streaming and social services.

  • Artists who want full ownership and control of their music and revenue.

  • Artists who want to build a community of collaborators and promoters.

Who chromatoforce is for:

  • Artists looking for physical media distribution (we aren’t there yet).

  • Artists looking for a label to provide heavy promotion (we do some!).

  • Artists who want a hands-off experience from a label.

[Note: The owners of ChromatoForce no longer utilize Spotify as a streaming partner for their personal projects due to the CEO’s large investments in AI military technology. However, if artists elect to be distributed to Spotify, we will accommodate with no judgment.]
